Love Lives Here
Happy Monday!
I’m happy to finally have time to start posting again! Sometimes life gets in the way of my sewing and writing. We live very close to Disney World and our home is very convenient when family and friends are visiting 🙂
I love blog hops; they are a great way to meet new people, learn new techniques and of course my favorite drooling over others creative talents. I was so inspired seeing the cool quilt projects displayed during the September 2018 Welcome To My House blog hop hosted by Carol with Just Let Me Quilt.
I had to create my own wall art using a house block. I had some left over nine patches that measured 6.5 inches from another project. I quickly figured out the math to create the “house” block.
My house mini quilt measures 25 x 31 inches. I added a little embroidery in the center to add a little interest. Not crazy about my fabric choices but my quilt math was accurate so I will definitely make another house quilt. I didn’t catch my layout mistake until after I added the border….

I used the roof flying geese scraps to make a candle mat. Quilt block is Dutchman Puzzle.

What a cute little house quilt! I’m not sure what your layout mistake is, so no worries there! Great idea using the flying geese for that little mini too!

Good Morning! What cute house blocks!! I love the idea of using up those nine-patch blocks and adding the flying geese. They make a perfect roof! Now that just has to make you smile when you look at it – it sure does me. ~smile~ Roseanne

Such fun projects. I don’t see a layout mistake on your house quilt. I have an entire *centennial* blue and white Dutchman’s Puzzle quilt I bought in NYC in 1973. I love it! It’s a great pattern, and makes a wonderful table mat, too. Perfect fall colors.

Hi Karla, I love your house mini. I like the fabrics and the binding is so awesome.
I enjoyed watching what people made on the house hop too. PS I dont see any mistake, so it’s your secret.! 😉
Your house is always so beautifully decorated!
I’m thinking of everyone effected by Michael and happy you and your hubby were safe.

Hi Abbie — Thanks so much! The devastation from Michael is mind blowing. I can’t imagine what people who were affected are going through. My prayers definitely go out to them.

I see no mistake in your house mini. And your Dutchman Puzzle candle looks great with those flowers on it. It has finally cooled off a bit here in LA so I am feeling all those fall colors. Are you getting some temperature relief in FL this week? I hope it made it’s way to you.

Hi Cherie, the error is in the second row. I love the candle mat. No relief here in Florida…we are still having 90+ days. My allergies seem to be in overdrive mode. Hopefully fall weather reaches both of us soon!

Hi Karla! The house quilt turned out very nice and I like the scrappy border…it’s a great way to use up extra strips of fabric. Isn’t it nice to have mini quilts around the house? I always like to see how fellow quilters use quilts to make our homes warm and inviting.
