One Monthly Goal – May 2018
Happy Wednesday!
Oh my goodness its hard to believe its May already!
I’m sure picking a random project for my OMG would be best and more challenging but I prefer to consult my calendar before making a selection. May will be a travel month for us so I needed to be realistic with my choice.
The winner : My black batik “Trip Around the World” quilt which I started back in 2015.

OMG – Batik trip around the world
One of the blogs I follow Aby Quilts posted a tutorial on April 10, 2018 for her Daffodil table topper. The topper is a simple half square triangle layout very similar to the layout I used for the batik quilt. Aby challenged her readers to make their own topper either in yellow or some other color combination.
I had a few green and brown half square triangles from a previous project that was perfect to use to make this topper. It was also the perfect opportunity to test my quilting plan for the batik quilt. I hope to get the binding on tomorrow.

I did straight line quilting with one inch intervals on the background fabric and stitched in the ditch on the print fabric. I need to work on my starts and stops in the center section – other than that I’m OK with the quilt plan.

Until next time Happy Sewing and Quilting!
Hi Karla,
Your quilting looks great on your table topper! I can easily see that translating to you May OMG. You’ll be done in no time! I don’t see anything wrong with your start/stops – and after it’s washed every little issue disappears. Go for it – you can do it!

That’s a great mini-version of the larger goal for the month. I really like it and may have to think about a baby quilt in red/white/blue to donate to American Hero Quilts. I think I could do that straight line sewing with my walking foot and complete the whole thing!

Thank you! A baby quilt in red white and blue will be beautiful — straight line quilting is my favorite — less stress mentally and physically for me! Have a wonderful day 🙂

Your black and batik quilt is gorgeous! All the best on quilting it this month. And I like the green and brown table topper, too. Isn’t it interesting that you, Stephanie and I each quilted the topper differently, yet the end results are all wonderful?
