Southwest Mountain Quilt
Happy Wednesday!
The past few days have been rainy – perfect for working on my UFO projects.
When we moved last year I started several quilty projects hoping to use to decorate our home.
We have an oversized and odd shaped ottoman I wanted to cover for a little color in our great room. The furniture in that room has a southwest vibe to it so I searched Pinterest for a quilt block that would complement. I decided on the delectable mountain / lantern quilt block.
I used Bonnie Hunter’s tutorial for creating the delectable mountain block. I have to admit I struggled with the layout, eventually I figured it out. I was going for an overall Aztec look. After the slow start I finally managed to finish the quilt which measures 51 x 41 inches.
I used the leftover fabric to make matching pillows. A few years ago I got several Creative Grid rulers for Christmas. One being Karen Montgomery’s Perfect Rectangle Ruler, which I used to make the HRT pillow. I know rulers aren’t always necessary – I liked this one because there isn’t any waste and it has notches on both ends of the ruler for perfect placement.

I used another ruler by Karen Montgomery – Scrap Crazy Six – to make the 18×18 crazy quilt block pillow. This 4 piece set was so much fun to use– easy and the possibilities are endless.
